Description of the project:
This tourist kit is developed for the Polar Urals for routes designed for a broad range of consumers who do not have special skills or training in sports. In its fullest form, the kit could be used for climbing local peaks, in particular, the Rai-Iz Mountains. To determine an optimal set of the kit, an analysis of hazards and possible risks in this route was carried out in the field. The mountain climbing specifics determine the following risk factors: rain, strong gusty wind, a sharp contrast in temperatures on the island and on the summit, loose rock, fog (loss of orientation in space). Structurally, the design is based on a design standard represented by malitsa, the Nenets national male overcoat. The main structural principle of the malitsa employed in the «Singir» equipment is a «solid» cut (windproof). The individual transformable gear is assembled a multilayer outfit based on an optimal combination of modern materials with various characteristics for achieving the principal objectives:
Base layer – damp control: it ensures withdrawal of excess moisture from the body and keeps the warmth generated by the body inside;
Middle (optional / additional) layer– retention of heat;
Top layer– protection against weather (rain, wind, etc.);
Exo-skeleton – protection against accidents (falling, bruising, etc.) and tourist’s health monitoring.
The «Singir» kit includes: an innovative technology of human health monitoring, gloves with a «touch» function, thermal wear, middle jacket, trousers/one-piece overall, shoes, inside utility vest (travel ration, medications, secondary equipment), outside waist pack (for quick access to principal equipment).An analysis of color graphics options suggested as the most appropriate the following colors: grey, black, green. The contrasting color combination ensures good visibility and recognizability of the tourist when climbing and being on a summit in the Rai-Iz Mountains. Red and blue hues would make the tourist difficult to distinguish against the background of a red-brown slope and the changeable polar skies.
